This page explains how Project Harambee helps disenfranchised HIV+ women form sustainable work and social groups.  We want to:

• create a successful work environment
• foster friendships so that women & children--deserted by their families--are cared  for when illlness or death occur.

NEW IN 2006 & 2007:  VOLUNTEERS ON OUR 2006 SERVICE TRIP QUICKLY SAW THE NEED FOR COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE AND ITS CRUCIAL ROLE IN DEVELOPMENT & HEALTH CONCERNS.   THEY MOVED QUICKLY TO IDENTIFY SPECIFIC NEEDS AND TARGET RESOURCES FOR HELP.  IN 2007  VOLUNTEERS ARE RETURNING TO:

HARAMBEE ("all pull together" in Swahili) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization  assisting those in sub-Saharan Africa affected by, and at risk for, HIV infection.  We promote development by sponsoring self-sustaining projects, not charity.  Our friends in Africa don’t want a handout...but a hand up.   We do this by:
