"...even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God."

An Ordinary Woman

An Ordinary Woman

Honey for your honey!

'Want to show a loved one that your care extends far beyond chocolates, flowers, neckties, and tickets to a Sox game?  (Well...okay, maybe that's a stretch....)

Make a donation through HARAMBEE to send a deserving Kenyan woman to Baraka Agricultural College (www.sustainableag.org) for beekeeping training.  $100 will get her there and pay her tuition, room, and board.  $200 additional will set her up with a beehive and all equipment needed to produce honey.  The honey not only will provide a nutritious dietary supplement, but will be shared with a local clinic or school.  Extra will be sold or bartered.

Dateline Kenya: 2006

Following is a lengthy but  amazing letter home from one of the medical student volunteers, written in our 3rd week in Kenya.  He speaks for all of us regarding intensity and impact of our experiences.  The picture he paints of  Kenya's needs is compelling and realistic .
