Elizabeth [1]

[1]

Elizabeth has a double burden:  she not only is HIV+, but she suffers from a debilitating genetic disorder.  She was near death when she arrived at Nyumbani, but dramatically recovered.

I watched her closely during the Easter vigil mass.  She is an unusual and beautiful girl.  I can't help but think that Easter has deep meaning for her--and for all the children.  Death is always near to them, with all  the challenges and fears it brings.  This means that Resurrection is strongly impressed on them as well--a sustaining, cherished belief.
