Juma was the only child I saw at Nyumbani who didn't smile.  He was very weak and obviously in pain.  When I returned home, word had arrived from Father D'Agostino that Juma died the day after we left Nyumbani.  When I came back in 2004, I saw Juma's little cross marking his grave.
