The following is from a letter I received from Sister Theresa Langfield, a Wheaton Franciscan sister, who returned in March from her first visit to UpendoVillage in Kenya. She comments on our "Animals for Africa" program recipients:
They send their gratitude and, very touchingly, asked that God bless you and give you long life. I saw the goats and chickens that have been donated to families for their sustenance and ate honey from the beehives that have been donated. I didn’t fully grasp the difference these things make in their lives until I visited the little huts made with sticks and mud (no water or electricity). They walk miles for water and for sticks for cooking.
