In 2014, Project Harambee initiated the Grow-a-Doc/Nurse program for educating qualified students in healthcare programs. Thanks to all the loyal donors, the program has assisted students in three countries: Kenya, Zambia and Ethiopia. A total of 30 have received their degrees as M.D. (5), Clinical Officer (8), Nurse (14), Pharmacy (1), and Laboratory Specialist (2). Another 22 are currently in training. All the students are vetted through programs and responsible individuals we work with in the countries served. These include St Aloysius Gonzaga High School in Kibera, Nairobi, a Jesuit High School Founded by Fr. Terry Charlton, Upendo Village in Naivasha, Kenya founded by Sr/Dr. Florence Muia, Mirror of Hope in Kibera, Nairobi, founded by Thomas Nyawir, Fr. Richard Phiri, Chipata, Zambia., and Desiye Melku in Lalibela, Ethiopia.
